I’ve learned techniques that are not as common within my degree plan, and that I wouldn’t have had the chance to learn otherwise

Undergraduate Research Opportunities by Colleges & Centers

Missouri S&T offers a rich and dynamic ecosystem of undergraduate research opportunities across its academic departments and centers.  Providing students with meaningful, hands-on experiences that extend far beyond the classroom.  Whether it is an aspect of a core course or offered as an elective you can take, each academic program organically integrates some type of research component into its curriculum.  Many programs also provide standalone research opportunities that allow students to earn academic credit while working closely with faculty on real-world challenges.

Research with Purpose

The College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) solves global challenges through innovative research in advanced manufacturing, AI and autonomous systems, Bio-X, extreme environments, resilient infrastructure, and resource sustainability.

College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) offers research experiences ranging from science to medicine to the humanities, to help prepare you for graduate and professional studies, as well as leading industry careers.

The Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development (Kummer College) turns discoveries into real-world solutions.  Through hands-on learning, interdisciplinary research and collaborations with S&T, industry and the community, students gain skills to solve complex challenges.

In addition to individual effort to pursue research opportunities, S&T research is further fortified by university research centers (URCs), consortia, and constellations. URCs involve faculty and students from various academic programs in multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and technology transfer activities with well-focused projects tailored to address the needs of local, state, and federal agencies, and the private sector, and to achieve a national reputation of scholarly excellence.
